Google Plus Text Formatting for Shares

Google Plus LogoHave you received your Google+ invite yet? If so, I suggest you head on over there and get set up – it going to be an amazing social ride. If you haven’t, contact me and I’ll send you an invite  (for as long as I have them left.)

If you are set up and have started posting you’ll probably have notices a big difference over Facebook and Twitter. The stream has bold, italic, and strike-through text in it! Plus you can go back and edit your posts – something neither of the big Social sites have – and a topic for another post.

So here are three text formatting tips that you can use on Google+ to help get your point across.

  • Type a word between asterisks “*” (Shift 8 key)  like this *bold* and the text will be bold.
  • Type a word between underscores “_” (Shift – key) like this _italics_ and the text be in italics.
  • Type a word between dashes “–” like this -strikethrough- and you will get strikethrough text.

You can apply more than one formatting to a text for for some really cool effects: You could write something like this:
*-_WOW Effect_-* , will show up as ,  WOW Effect

As more text formatting becomes available I’ll update the page. If you have any tips please leave them in the comment section below!
